Allie and Justin were married at the beautiful Historic Mankin Mansion just this past month.  These are two of the most fun and animated people I’ve had the pleasure to photograph.  Between the wonderful backdrop of the Mankin and their expressive, fun, personalities it was a great experience as a photographer.  Truly, it was difficult to find a bad moment as I documented their wedding day.  Thank you to the Stoneman and O’Neale families for the lovely occasion and for making us a part of it.  Also, a big thanks to Bill Holland of Holland Photo Arts, who stepped in quite ably to fill in for Lindsay while she recovers from the birth of our second daughter (check us out on Facebook for pictures of our tiny Vivian).  Enjoy!

Don, what a joy to behold your work! Choosing someone to cataloge such a major life event is an act of trust and faith. Allison wisely said yes when she met you. What a perfect match you are (were, now) for her special day. I am so impressed with your artistic renderings of a day that will live in my heart forever. Your photo of Allison and Justin holding hands while seated at their sweetheart table brought fresh tears to my eyes- you captured such tenderness and committment with this photo!

Back to the Hirschey home to see how Brady is coming along, and 7 months finds him scooting all over the place, watching a little TV with daddy (Happy Father’s Day, Roy), and generally being a bright, alert, and content little boy.  From experience I know we’re in for some major changes before we see him again, so I’m happy that we caught this little moment in time for his proud parents.  Enjoy!

Fletcher-Sledd Wedding

June 20, 2010

We joined Catherine and Andrew at Monument Avenue Baptist Church on a beautiful late-spring Saturday.  It has been a while since we’d been there so we were excited to learn we’d be photographing the ceremony in the cute little chapel on the other side of the building from the iconic sanctuary.  We’d met the couple through Celeste and Bobby (their fun-filled adventure can be found here) so we knew, with all the shared friends, that we were in for a fun party following the lovely ceremony.  There was no disappointment and the Lewis-Ginter Botanical Gardens weren’t so quiet that evening.  Our good friend Meghan McSweeney stepped in to help as Lindsay continues on towards the due date of baby #2.  Thank you to the Fletcher and Sledd families for treating us like family for the day and we’re thrilled that you’re loving the images.  Everyone else, enjoy!

Yates-Gunther Wedding

June 16, 2010

It wasn’t too long ago that Ashley, Paul and I were having a lovely time on the University of Richmond campus and adventures in Wafflehousing (my term, just made it up) during their engagement session.  They were such great sports and a joy to work with, so I knew the wedding day would be easy fun.  From their first meeting at the Jefferson Hotel we headed back to campus for a beautiful ceremony at Cannon Chapel.  Now Mr. and Mrs., it was on to the Empire Room (one of my favorites in Richmond) for the reception, nimbly handled by Eric Cunningham from Choice Entertainment.  This is also the start of a series of guest photographers, good and talented friends, who have graciously stepped in to shoot with me while Lindsay recovers from the birth of our second daughter.  This week our dear friend Meghan McSweeney Thank you to the Yates and Gunther families for your hospitality and we wish you all the best.  Enjoy!
