One of the true pleasures of being a photographer is not just the fact that you meet scads of great people, but also in the way we meet them. I had the opportunity to shoot the behind-the-scenes for Extreme Home Makeover in Farmville, VA early last year. Assigned to the same story was Leigh Forrester from the ABC affiliate in Lynchburg. She, along with her cameraman Matt Franz, absolutely made my week with great stories and constant banter as we battled extremely cold and rainy conditions throughout the week. It was sad to see them go at the end of it all, but what a surprise when Leigh called to ask if I would photograph her (and introducing the groom…Josh Farmer!) wedding in the lovely, quaint town of Onancock, VA. I’m sure you know what the answer was. It was an absolutely delightful evening and a stunning backdrop was provided by the Chesapeak Bay and a perfect sunset. We hope you enjoy the images.
It’s almost not fair that we Richmonders have such amazing venues to chose from when it comes to wedding ceremonies and receptions. I’ve always said that we’re this secret little Eden in the middle of the East Coast and I hope it stays that way. Having a world-class hotel such as The Jefferson, and the privilege to shoot there quite often each year, is a benefit that I hope I never take for granted. We were thrilled when McLean and Kevin invited us to be a part of their wedding day; such a fun, relaxed couple with families and friends to match. Jimmy Harris was amazing as usual in coordinating the day for the Turner and Oakeson families and the jazzy-pop style of the John Wynntet suited the mood perfectly. Enjoy.
Brad and Melissa decided to return to the site of the proposal for their engagement session; the fountain lake at Richmond’s Byrd Park. Being a proud resident of the park, I was more than happy to oblige them. But first, we had a little fun in-studio before heading out in to the very sunny afternoon. Thanks for a fun session, you two!
As I was approaching my car, burning the late Sunday evening oil with wedding edits (McLean and Kevin, Jenifer and David…we’re *this* close!) and had to run back inside to catch this moon rise. Yes, I’m standing in the middle of Broad St 🙂
We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to join Lindsay and Nick for their daughter’s Christening party. While the rain kept us inside for most of the afternoon, everyone was in great spirits and we had the pleasure of meeting the entire family while they celebrated. We did manage to dodge the drizzle and take a few portraits in their beautiful yard, and Lillian and her brother Robert (along with their adorable cousins) didn’t mind the inside time one bit 🙂 Enjoy.
